Recent Events

Ms. Levy spoke on June 12, 2013, at Shadybrook in Kirtland, Ohio, at the East Shore Unitarian Universalist Church. She spoke about Anne Frank and Miep Gies--Friendship and Moral Courage. She focused on the roles of obedience to authority, empathy, and altruism in risking one's life in order to save the life of another.

Featured Presentation

Miep Gies referred to herself as "an ordinary woman" while Yad Vashem the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Jerusalem recognized Miep and her husband Jan as "Righteous Rescuers Among the Nations." Indeed she was much more than ordinary, and there is much to admire about Miep Gies as we realize the true nature of her extraordinary moral courage for hiding the Frank family. In her presentation "Miep Gies and Anne Frank: Friendship and Moral Courage," Ms. Levy will engage her audience in a meaningful dialogue about the Holocaust, an appreciation of the friendship Miep and Jan had with Anne Frank and her family, and the little known similarities between Miep and Anne's early lives.
